Sitting at home, sipping tea with a hot & crisp snack along with your family on a breezy evening. This was how I was spending my Sunday evening. But, an IIT-KGP-ian never envies such peace because I was desperately switching channels to find something more interesting to resort to. And to my peace, I accidently stumbled upon the Brussels attack. The attack on the capital city of Belgium which again reminded us about one of the challenges that still needs fixing.

And to my peace, I accidently stumbled upon the Brussels attack. The attack on the capital city of Belgium which again reminded us about one of the challenges that still needs fixing.

The attack on Brussels is not just a random act of terrorism but it reminds us of a challenge that we have been fighting against for decades. These insurgents have very little regard for the human life and they are misled by their radical thoughts. But, why to lose your weight over these fools. In the light of optimism, it seems more orderly to discuss the human developments in the astronomical universe. If stepping on the moon was an achievement, then, our ability to connect the billions via technology is no less than the Revolution. We are still in awe over how much is still left behind to explore and mind you guys, the human brain is a mystery that is still left to be unravelled.

Technology has always been our best friend and it keeps on surprising us with his ‘Big Black Pandora Box’. Extinction has been substituted with an alternative, Non-Renewables have been replenished with Renewables and calamities have been recuperated with preparedness. So, the world has been changing. It’s not only about us becoming smarter, today is the dot-com age we even prefer living in smarter cities. The world has been squeezed from Billions of mile to our weary handsets.

But, the smart question to be asked at this moment is are we dealing with something that we cannot control. A lot of us have grown watching archetype Terminator movies where AI takes control of our world. So, is this what has been happening – Have we become slaves of technology, paranoid and paralyzed to be rescued by our own little devices.

Growth does not depend on the individual, and evolution cannot be eclipsed, but are we the fittest to survive or are we turning something else into more fit, more lit than us. Big Bang tells us how the universe is expanding but particle physics also cautions us to be aware of the tiny particles. And the latter cannot co-exist without the former. So, the question worth pondering about.

So, let’s keep asking ourselves – are we moving to the correct path? And we are golden. There is no simple answer to this puzzle and as statistics teaches us it’s just a probability towards a better possible future that we aspire for. The past has been golden but isn’t it better to search for something rather than ideally sitting and keep sipping your tea.

Just as I said a gloomy evening for a bored KGP-ian with nothing better to do.

Thank You!
