Social media impacts in our society

Social media is one of best platform to connect with our old friends, classmates, colleagues and others. It’s also a media to update ourselves by instant happenings, sharing views and opinions, Photos & life events and many more. People started to spend time on social media is more than spend time with actual persons.

Among India’s Internet users, WhatsApp tops the list of instant messaging (IM) apps and Facebook is the most popular social networking site, according to a study by the research firm TNS released on Tuesday. While 56% of Internet users in India use WhatsApp every day, 51% use Facebook, says the study titled Connected Life. WhatsApp, owned by Facebook Inc., had 900 million monthly active users globally in September 2015, with India being their largest country. Globally, 30% of all Internet users are on Facebook daily. Facebook had 118 million monthly active users in India in December 2014; in June 2015, the number rose to 132 million.  Source: http://www.livemint.com

Many companies has been promoting their product in social media and consider it as fast reaching and low cost platform. Social media users aware themselves from happenings, product launch movie information, celebrities points etc. Apart from good things in social media, its fueling hatredness among individual, groups, communities etc.,

People are using the media in the name of sharing opinions and updates; they are spreading fake and fabricated news to mass people. It was primary notorious tool in bodo-muslim clashes in Assam. Since then, this media has been used for many riots and rallies against communities. Many things were taken precautionary steps by respective concern bodies.

Social media has been playing a destructive role in inciting communal violence in India and time has come to check its misuse. Social networking sites are a threat to national security as they are used as tools for drug trafficking, money laundering and match-fixing, terrorism, instigating violence and for rumor tools etc. Social media has been playing a destructive role in inciting communal violence in India and time has come to check its misuse. Recently, a Delhi based dentist thrashed and killed by a mob in small clash in front of his family. Initially, it given name for communal and then criticized journalist media for not giving importance to news. These kind of social reactions bring police officers to response in social media. Last month, social media is vital in protesting against JNU students and created environment that students involvement in anti nationalism. When real news spread to people after sometime, they are realizing the truth. It is because of People are not keeping patience on news, spreading fabricated to create disharmony and seeding way for riots. They sharing to others and posting the wall whatever they heard. All people have rights to express opinions but think in other shoes and create harmony in modern and technological era. It will help for India economical growth.
