With uncertainty over MS dhoni’s fitness India kickstarts their Asia cup campaign today at Mirpur against host Bangladesh. Although the team management have stated that not too much to worry about the Indian captain’s fitness , it will be interesting to see whether the management take the risk of playing MS in the playing eleven knowing that the T20 world cup is at less than a month’s distance.
For the first time Asia cup will be played in T20 format which of course will provide great platform for all the Asian teams to showcase their power before the ultimate clash begins from march here in India . Going into the competition, India will be high on morale considering their recent performance against Austraila followed by against Sri Lanka in the shortest format. What will be interesting to see is how India plays the left arm rookie Mustafizur who troubled most of the Indian batsmen during India’s last tour to Bangladesh. Bangladesh went on to win that series 2-1 eventually. Although many would agree that India have a much balanced side now compared to what they had during that tour. With India finding a good death bowler in Bumrah and a decent seaming all rounder in Pandya, undoubtedly India can say they have all their bases covered. What India will be hoping is Yuvraj to score some good runs before the world cup, whereas Bangladesh will be hoping to continue their dominance over the opponents in their home turf which they have been doing successfully for the past 2 years. All in all we are all set for a mouth watering clash.
