Kanika Manocha, MBA 2015-2017, Vinod Gupta School of Management, IIT Kharagpur
Munnabhai of the Bollywood screen worked to make paper bags and came out with rupees 450 as his balance amount during the term he spent in prison. He was convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case for illegal possession of the Ak-56 rifle. Emotionally and mentally drained actor asked the media that he is not a terrorist and don’t mention about the blast case as he was convicted under the Arms Act.
Just to see a glimpse of the actor, huge crowd gathered at the Pune airport to give the freeman a humongous welcome. The actor directly headed towards his home where he was given a warm welcome by his friends and family. Telling about the insights of the prison, Dutt mentioned about the hurdles and the sinking feeling he had to go through. Like all other prisoners he had to do some semi-skilled work according to the jail guidelines.
Marking the paper bags as the most valued possession, Dutt wanted to show those to his family members. His daughter’s excitement was unmatched to see his father out of the cage and she expressed her feelings on social media. My heartiest wishes are with the actor and his family, let’s hope he come across good future endeavors.
