The reigning champions of English premier league, Chelsea, is now struggling to stay away from relegation zone. Six Chelsea players were named in PFA team of the year last season and none of them showed their true mettle this time. Jose Mourinho, a celebrated manager among Chelsea fans, was sacked following the disastrous performance. Eden Hazard, the best player of the previous edition of the league, is hardly able to complete a pass. What could be the reason to the downfall of Chelsea? As an ardent follower of this splendid football club, I, now strive to analyse the current scenario of Chelsea.

Any team is bound to succeed if lead by a capable leader. In a game like football there is a requirement to lead the game at all frontiers. Chelsea was always lucky to have a captain like Terry but he was always assisted by big game players like Cech, Lampard and Drogba. In the recent past, Chelsea witnessed the departure of these players. Aging Terry is now all alone in the field, hardly able to finish the match and hence Chelsea lagging.

The football clubs always try for the transfers of the new players. Jose Mourinho persistently pursued the Everton defender, John Stones in the transfer window. He was considered a replacement to Terry. Unfortunately this transfer did not materialize. Had this happened, Mourinho would still have been the manager of Chelsea fighting for the title instead if fighting the relegation.

The interim manager, Guus Hiddink, is a successful and a calm man. He is expected to instil the calm and composed play in the team. Since his return, the struggling main player Diego Costa has picked up his form. With this good sign, let us just hope that all the players show the spirit to win and perform better in the Champions cup and FA cup and end the disastrous season on a good note.
