Rakesh Maria, a top cop who cracked Bombay serial blast case, is now in headlines for the well decorated Sheena Bora Murder Case. The Police Commissioner for last few weeks made headlines when he revealed a huge twist on this much talked about case. But more than the Sheena Bora case, his controversial transfer made bigger headlines.

Rakesh Maria was suddenly “promoted” from the Commissioner of Police to Director General of Police, Home Guards. This created a huge flutter in the media.

He is succeeded by Ahmed Javed as the new Commissioner of Police, Mumbai. But should this transfer be sensationalized by the media as they are doing it because as we citizens understand, the law is same for all. So, how does this affect the Sheena Bora case or for that matter any case. Justice should be given any which way.

Maria is no doubt a reputed cop who has solved many big cases like 2003 Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar twin blasts case. It is for Mumbai to decide whether the transfer is just another transfer which will not affect the law or has the city lost a meritorious cop who could help crack many more cases. Only time will tell…
