Polar remotely operated vehicle (PROVe), which has been developed by India domestically and which was being tested since last two months has finally been put into operation after it the test reports were approved. The vehicle built by National Institute of Ocean Technology had been undergoing trial in “Priyadarshini lake” on the Schirmacher Oasis.
This is really big step as far as ocean research is concerned as it will enable the researchers to go to very deep levels in the oceans for research purposes. This vehicle will aid greatly in making predictions regarding monsoon, tsunami and other related stuff.
I think it’s a huge achievement by Indian scientists as this technology will help in taking preventive measures for forecasted bad monsoons or tsunamis and what makes it even more commendable is the fact that it has been developed, tested and deployed by India on its own.
