The winners of 62nd National film awards have been announced at a press conference held at National media center in New Delhi. The conference was addressed by jury chairpersons P Bharathiraja, Kamal Swaroop and Ziya Us Salam. The award distribution ceremony will be conducted on May 3, 2015.
The national film awards ceremony is conducted by the Directorate of Film festivals to honor best films in Indian cinema. The nominations for this award are submitted in December and January which includes feature and non-feature films certified by central board of film certification. Dubbed, edited or copied films are not eligible for nomination in national films award. The movie listed should be in any Indian language with screen size of 16mm, 35mm, digital format or wider gauge format and should be released in cinemas or available in digital format for home viewing. Also, the film should be certified as a feature film, a featurette or a documentary by central board of film certification.
For year 2015, Court is awarded as best feature film which focuses on the heart-wrenching insensitivity of Indian institutional structures. Best actor award is won by Kannada actor Vijay and best actress award is won by Bollywood actress Kangna Ranaut. With 320 entries in 23 different languages it was a nightmare for jury to pick best. Yet, we have actor, actresses, directors and other film fraternity members who make our film industry proud.
